When the pandemic put her event styling business on hold, Gella knew she needed to pivot—and fast. Pregnant at the time, she dreamed of starting a venture that could bring joy to others, even from a distance. That spark became Memooi, a gift shop named after “me” and “mooi”—the Dutch word for beautiful.
“Memooi is about personal connections. I wanted the gifts we created to feel like a reflection of you—beautiful, heartfelt, and intentional.”
As a mompreneur, Gella balances running a brand with raising a daughter. For her, it’s all about staying flexible, creating consistently, and accepting that perfection isn’t always possible.
“I’m not always going to be at 100%, and I’ve learned that that’s okay. You still get to show up.”
With help from PayMongo Capital, she’s expanded Memooi’s offerings to include curated packaging for every occasion—especially for milestone events like weddings and Mother’s Day.
