Ka-Mongo Corner: April 2022

People Team

Health Insurance Benefits

Our HMO policy is getting better and better this year. We began the improvements with the switch to Maxicare–a leading HMO provider with an expanded Maximum Benefit Limit. Beginning April 2022, we are pleased to announced that PayMongo will also cover 100% of the HMO contributions of the employee's first 2 dependents, instead of the current setup where employees shoulder 50% of their dependents' HMO contributions. This is a testament to the company's commitment in ensuring the overall well-being of our employees.

Temporary Office space at WeWork Uptown BGC

Do you miss working with your officemates? PayMongo engaged WeWork to provide a temporary workspace for our employees. WeWork is a co-working space located at the 9th and 10th Floors of Uptown Place Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

We have an initial subscription for 50 employees to use the WeWork facility. Kindly note that only fully vaccinated employees can use the workspace. Subscription passes/IDs can only be used by the employee assigned, and this cannot be shared or interchanged with other employees. If you want to avail of a subscription pass, please coordinate with your Direct Managers.

We hope to have our office in High Street South Corporate Plaza fully renovated by the end of June and we may all finally revive the office spirit!

Holiday Announcements

April 9, Araw ng Kagitingan marks the anniversary of the Fall of Bataan. This is an important event in our history–a day to honor the heroes who fought for our Country during World War II.

As an inclusive PayMongo family, we would like to encourage each other to respect and commemorate these holidays. We encourage employees to take a pause from our busy workdays, and to reflect and recharge. Please remember to spend time with your friends, families and loved ones.

Productivity 🤝 Well-Being

Need mini-break ideas? Try these! Contrary to popular belief, taking a break is productive because it helps you regroup your thoughts and recharge your energy. Take 15-30 minute breaks twice a day when at work, mid morning and mid-afternoon being the most beneficial times and see the difference. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Get up from your desk and (1) Go for a walk! Remember to leave your phone behind. Checking email this times does not count a break.

(2) Be mindful. Start with sitting in a quiet place and just becoming aware of each breath you take, feeling the stomach rise and fall with each breath.

(3) Read. Whether it's an inspirational book or pure fiction, read whatever help you relax. Pop those headphones in.

(4) Listening to music when taking a break will help you relax and de-stress.

(5) Stretch. There are a lot of stretching exercises that you can do at your desk or in your space. Switch off your computer screen and start.

(6) Simple doodle. Letting your mind wander as you put pen and paper helps you stay focused and stimulates new ideas.

(7) Have a snack. Just make sure it is healthy one. Heavy snacks will just make you lethargic.

Taking a short breaks help keep you focused on your goals and tasks at hand and keeps productivity up! 🙂

Newbies' Playlist

Need something classic to listen to? Maybe something to add on your playlist? We got you! Here are some of the top memorized song piece from our Newbies!

🚗 A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton - This song was inspired by a crush she had on when she was a student. If you are missing someone who is not physically present, then this song might be a good to listen to! 🙂

🧨 Dynamite by BTS - The song talks about the joy and appreciation for the little things that make life valuable! If you are a k-pop lover or if you need some music to listen to hype up, this song is a good choice! Shout out to Ka-Mongo ARMY!

👶🏻 When We Were Young by Adele - The song is about meeting up with friends or loved ones from the past and discussing how things have been. If you are remembering your past or reminiscing memories with your loved ones, then this song is a good hit to play but it will make you sad :(

Fun fact: the most memorized song piece from our Newbies are Baby Shark, Happy Birthday song and Bahay Kubo. YAY! These songs are really fun to play and easy to memorize though! Haha!

Newbies' Productivity Trick

Not sure how to be more productive nowadays? It's definitely a modern challenge! Here are some of Productivity hacks coming from our Newbies!

☕️ COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE! It is clear that caffeine can help improve productivity, some of our Ka-Mongo folks drink coffee for a jolt/jump to start their day or to carry them through a midday slump! The smell and taste of coffee are admittedly difficult to resist! Right?! Have a sip now!

🎧 LISTENING TO MUSIC one of the great ways to reduce stress and improve mental clarity, ensuring that even the most hectic days don't get to you! It helps you boost your productivity cause it will put you in a better mood, but it all depends on the kind of music you listen to. 🙂  Pop those headphones in!

⏱ POMODORO TECHNIQUE this is a popular time management method. It uses a timer to break work into intervals, typically 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks but it depends on how you use and break it. 🙂

How to stay focus and mentally fresh using this method

     Step 1      ✏️    Pick a task

     Step 2      ⏳   Set a 25-minute timer

Step 3      🧑🏼‍💻   Work on your task until the time is up

     Step 4      ☕️   Take a 5 minute break

     Step 5      🍅    Every 4 pomodoros, take a longe 15-30 minute break

In the end, it’s a personal preference and if you don’t usually listen to music, drink coffee etc. when you work,    knowing what works for most people can help you get started. If you already do, just try something new! 😉
